Ruby and the Moon is a serial, episodic story about a German Shepherd with chronic kidney failure, a storytelling Moon and a plethora of Welsh Corgis in many walks of life–including a magician, a robot dog, a fairy mount and a dinosaur. Illustrations are provided by the lovely Emily Love, who is a much better artist than she thinks she is. Inspiration for this story came from two very real, very adorable dogs (and the very real nicknames for said very real, very adorable dogs) who are very close to the author’s heart. I thought I would engage in a writing exercise of voice and character, and liked the result so much I decided to continue the story and share it with all of you. I hope you like it as much as I enjoy writing it!
Current and previous chapters are listed in order of posting. New chapters are posted as Emily and I have time to create them (which is never as often as we’d like).
Episodes
01: The Corgi Who Didn’t Yet Have a Tail
03: Lexitron and Rubicon, Dog Robots
04: Corgo the Great
05: Lexiana the Fairy Mount
Excerpts of Ruby and the Moon also appear in German and English at the Switzerland-based Welsh Corgi News!

Hi Kelly, when searching the internet for stories for my website I came across your serial “Ruby and the Moon”. I particularly liked the first two stories and wonder whether you will allow me to translate them into German and French for publication on my private and non-commercial website, together with your original story. It would just be the story itself as told by the moon. I would, of course, give full credit to you and add a link to your blog. I am shortly going to set up a separate page for my English speaking visitors with some Corgi legends and tales and where your stories would fit in beautifully.
Regards from Switzerland, Anita.

Anita,
I’m honored by your request! I think we can work something out. I’ll shoot you an email sometime this week so we can talk about it (or feel free to email me at narrativeintheblog@gmail.com)!
Switzerland is a beautiful country. I visited Bern a few years ago and would love to come back and explore the rest of the country someday (maybe with my corgi, even?).
